About SPC BSN 91 Website
It was Sept 19, 2005 when i thought of creating a yahoogroup website for our college nursing class batch '91. At this time, most of our batchmates are working already in a foreign land for years. Currently, we were 125 active online members in the net compared to 221 graduates of nursing batch '91. Our message box are overwhelming so much so we've reached 8,593 messages mark. I would like to thank my fellow moderators for keeping the site in action even if I'm not around. Arlene Acain, Michael Junia, Jenny Selim-Mijares, Mariel Barquin-Villagracia and Ma. Laurel "Pangging" Gepaya-Cepicka.
Here are the list of some pioneer members (Sept. 19-25,'05) who are responsible of the website: Art Galenzoga, Gene Caturla, Noel & Eimee Carandang, Barbee Valderosa-Travero, Cookie Pascua-Pacetes, Ayeng Lacuesta-Contreras, Arlene Acain, Joanna Palicte-Pasia, Caleb Rasay, Elisa Pore-Cuevas, Miki Junia, Pangging Gepaya-Cepicka, Jay Tesoro, Robert Magaway, Marney Guloy-Martinez, Tini Pimentel-Pellicer, Mariel Barquin-Villagracia, Cynch Catubig, Garet Hernandez, Walter Lumamba, Harold Sazon, Jenny Selim-Mijares, Lani Benetua-Canabano, Lanevil Ranara, Faith Dy-Regondola, Cynthia Alday-Alagaban, Joy Villanueva-Palop and Rusty Quimbo.
Now, we still continue the bonding we have before as we continue to live in this modern times. We had our first formal global reunion in 15 years for the year 2006. First at Enterprise Hotel in London, United Kingdom last June, followed at Roseville and San Francisco, California, USA last July and finally Buffet Palace in Davao, Philippines last August. A lot of mini reunions were taking place after that. And so we have decided to create this website www.spcbsn91.com for public viewing. We would like to share to the world the bonding of our batch. Our family and friends will be able to access in this site our pictures, videos, articles and online yearbook of nursing members of the San Pedro College batch 91.
We thank our mentors and former clinical instructors who once gave us hardship in exams, pressured clinical duty, making our lives miserable during case presentation....hmmm wait... why not? Most of our batch are working abroad. Having the pleasure of traveling anywhere they want to go. Given the chance to be able to help with their family and relatives in the Philippines. Lucky us because during our times, we've got the actual hands-on experience to all clinical cases and practical approach to different medical cases. With some of our mentors who are still in San Pedro College, our batch believe that SPC will continuously provide nurses with worthy training and world-class standards.
It's true that we've learned a lot during our college nursing experience. it is kept in our hearts to be kind, patience, passion and full of true love in our works. This became our guidance as we take one step at a time towards the fulfillment of our dreams. Mabuhay SPCBSN '91.

June 2006 The US Reunion
By Jennifer Selim-Mijares
It was year 1991, when 216 young nurses from San Pedro College marched proudly and received their diplomas and set off on their own journeys as full fledged nurses.
15 years later, in Roseville, California, 25 US based members of SPC BSN 1991 gathered together for a two-day reunion at the Orchard Creek Clubhouse. Alumni arrived from all across the US and one even came from as far the United Kingdom. The 20 ladies and 5 gentlemen of BSN 1991 and their families who attended the reunion gamely participated in a fun filled programme where the children of Jiel Rubio performed a dance number while Janna Geraldo and Carmela Paredes gave a heartwarming song. Not to be outdone, Giancarlo Selim-Mijares, displayed TaeKwonDo kicks and forms.
To make the day more memorable, organizers Jennifer Selim-Mijares and Julius Borrega, gave out several awards to the following SPC BSN 1991 alumni:
1. Alumni Who Traveled the Farthest: Arlene Acain (UK) 2. Friendship Award: Eimee Vapor Carandang 3. Awesome/Dakilang Bisadak Award: Adam Geraldo 4. Most Improved Alumni: Jovan Paredes (owns 4 homes) 5. Bride to Be: Jay Tesoro 6. Great Artist Award: Annabelle Lee-thingyerson (banner and t-shirt) 7. Most number of Children: Noel Carandang (3 kids) 8. The Longest Married Alumni: Cybeline Fuentes-Leiviska (12 years) 9. Special Awards/The Organizers: Jiel Rubio, Jennifer Selim-Mijares, Julius Borrega 10. Excellence Award: Liezel Montefalco (Nurse practitioner first to migrate to the US) 11. SPIRIT Awards: Mariel Barquin, Lani Benetua Canabano, Rhodora Fuentes, Maryan Obillo-Ignacio, Reyna Jayme-Legaspi, Gloria Limbo Vapor, PeralRaganit Onas, Ellen LamanilaoTabar, Maribel Arias, Cecille Lopez Tyrell, Dolly Zartiga, Joel Detorio.
After the reunion at the Clubhouse, the class gathered at the house of Jiel Rubio where everyone enjoyed the traditional Filipino party with endless karaoke and a delectable feast of Filipino food! The class also had a surprise bridal shower for Jay Tesoro, who’s getting married on February 8, 2007 to Mr. Ricky Pajaron who is also our batch mate.
On the second day of the reunion, the class and their families boarded a Great American Stage Bus and embarked on a grand tour of the city of San Francisco! First stop was the world famous Fisherman’s wharf and Pier 39 for lunch, shopping and cable car ride. Of course, the class could not help but had to take lots and lots of souvenir photos of the group with Alcatraz as the background. Next stop was the breathtaking beauty of the Golden Gate Park. Then the group proceeded to the Ocean Beach and took in the view at the spectacular Cliff House. They continued their driving tour to Japan Town and Victorian Homes and this rich and diverse culture of the City by the Bay!
Last stop was the Golden Gate Bridge where the class had their class photo taken with their SPC banner and class shirt. On the third day, some members gathered in Jennifer Selim’s house for lunch and went to Jovan Paredes’ house for dinner. Other colleagues went to see the Yosemite Park.
For three days, the members of BSN 1991 simply forgot about the hardships that they endured while working so far away from home. For three days, they were simply classmates enjoying each other’s company, catching up with old friends. Older perhaps, but definitely wizened by the wisdom gained from years of working. Some of us have undertaken the most difficult job of raising children. As our children mature and are able to take responsibility for their lives, we can sit back, and pat ourselves for a job well done. It is time to review that past and fantasize the future. Let us enjoy life for life is short. The SPC BSN 1991 vowed to have more reunions in the future.

June 2006 The UK Reunion
By Arlene B. Acain
Looking back at the recent events we had on May 31 – June 1, 2006, I could never believe that after a year of planning, everything was a success! Although it was not easy, the commitment of everyone proved to be the inspiration in making the reunion a big celebration for all of us. It will be something that we would cherish and keep in our hearts as long as we live. We might have missed the others who have failed to come due to personal reasons, we still remembered them in our own simple ways and believe that wherever they are, they will always be part of BSN 1991!
When and where it all did begin? 15 years ago, we graduated from San Pedro College. We probably saw each other the last during the graduation rites and after that event we went our own separate ways. Those who lived in Davao maintained communications and have worked in San Pedro Hospital, others went back to their hometown and few have been brave enough to find work abroad. Little did we know that few years into the future, a website will be the greatest mode of communication, bridging the gap of years that we have spent away from each other, and will help rekindle friendships that have lain dormant?
Thanks to our genius friend, Mr. Arthur Galenzoga, the SPC BSN 1991 website was created in September. Since its conception, the group website has been flooded with messages across the globe… hundreds of pictures have been posted… friendships have been built – and rebuilt – relationships have blossomed.
The idea of having a reunion was in connection with the 50th Golden Jubilee Celebration which is happening soon and the fact that we have been nurses for a long period of time – 15 years!
It is only but wise that we all agreed to have a reunion in 3 major countries as we have been separated by distance due tot the nature of our job. Others have been settled in America for the last couple of years with their families, few are here in the United Kingdom and some are left in Davao City, Philippines. The person responsible in making the UK reunion a success was Mr. Michael Abdullah Junia, who despite his busy schedule as a husband, a father and as working nurse was never deterred from organizing the whole event, with the help of his fellow BSN 1991 graduates and friends. Thought it felt difficult at the start, it never discouraged us to pursue with our goal, after all, SPCians yata kami.
The planning went on the after the discussion and it was never a smooth task but as I said, the more we were faced with difficulties, the more we persevered. Thanks to the contribution of everyone, the reunion took place in Enterprise Hotel here in the UK. We managed to have the much missed Filipino food!
Husbands and wives came to join us as well as children. Unending talks and laughter ensued, games were played amongst adults and children, as well as couples who did not hesitate to answer personal questions! Sorry folks, but I cannot really print here what has been asked, pagagalitan tayo ng MTRCB!! We were like noisy children, so noisy that a staff from the hotel had to give us some warning, remember?
It was just sad that the bar had to close early, otherwise wala sanang tulugan!
The group tour took place on the second day and, though at first it was embarrassing, we proudly raised our banner all throughout the times we were seeing the famous landmarks of UK.. proof ang mga pictures namin! We even managed to use it inside the London Underground Train… It was so much fun that nobody even complained of being tired.
This event has strengthened our relationship as batch mates and as friends. It has inspired us all to meet each other again and make sure that we will update each other what is going on with our lives. We managed to remain good friends and this circle has been extended to include our family members.
(Special Thanks as well to the people who attended the event, if it wasn’t for them, there would be no reunion. And for the following, Ms. Ayesa Lacuesta-Contreras, Ms. Ma. Yvette Sue Hijosa-Belches, Mr. Walter Lumamba, and Ms. Laarni Aguila for their selfless efforts in planning the reunion).
